As part of our commitment to our people, our manuhiri (guests/visitors), our suppliers and our team we commit to providing our team with one paid day off each year.
This day is their's to complete volunteer work for any cause or charity that they hold dear to their heart - from rattling buckets for Breast Cancer to an environmental program or volunteering at the local SPCA.
We also involve our team in a number of community events to support health and wellbeing and charitable causes.

Guardianship (kaitiakitanga) of our land and our natural environment is vital to the long term sustainable success of our industry and our own community.
We take responsibility for the entire life cycle of products and services we use and actively look for ways to minimise, manage and eliminate waste from our supply chain as well as engaging in on-premise programs to educate our guests on what they can do. Some of our actions developed naturally, for example, we’ve been involved in helping various charitable organisations for numerous years. Other actions are driven by a desire to protect what we hold dear. For example, our ongoing commitment to reducing our impact on the natural environment has triggered management & employees to develop initiatives to ensure we do our part in helping NZ remain 100% PURE.
We are strongly committed to playing a role in supporting our wider community, through sponsorship of events, individuals or organisations, and sporting, educational, and other community initiatives. We have guidelines in place to determine the suitability of requests for sponsorship or charitable donations. Brook Serene will only consider requests that are consistent with our objectives, which are:
A worthy cause that will have a lasting positive social impact on the community
The audience the prize is promoted to is the correct demographic, in programs, via newsletters, and social media
The package will have a high value associated with it*
We reserve the right to request that a reserve be set at 50% of face value.
Brook Serene's (or the specific hotels') name or logo must appear on event banners, posters, approved printed material, displays, websites, direct marketing material, and social media platforms.
*Please note we do not support silent auctions or raffles.
Preference will be given to organisations or causes that our team is passionate about, or community groups who support our locally-owned business. Please note that we do not support requests for individual sponsorship.

We receive many sponsorship and charitable requests and applications and we are only able to support a minority of these requests. All requests must be in writing. Requests for support of events within 7 days will not be responded to except in certain exceptional circumstances. We review these on a regular basis and will advise in writing within 21 days. Please note we do not offer cash donations or sponsorships.
A post-fundraising evaluation of the sponsorship will be required from you, detailing the total amount the auction raised, the amount our sponsorship raised along with the name, address, and phone number of the winner or prize recipient of the voucher. This information must be supplied to Brook Serene Hotel Management within 21 days.
