Caring Luxury

The Caring Luxury policy is built around three pillars: caring for our people - manaakitanga, caring for our community - kotahitanga and caring for our environment - kaitiakitanga.


Regent of Rotorua is owned by TJK (NZ) Ltd and managed by Brook Serene Boutique Hotels.  As part of the Brook Serene Boutique Hotels portfolio, we operate with a policy of Caring Luxury.  We understand that our actions impact those around us as well as the global environment.  We are proud to hold a 4* plus SILVER rating from Qualmark for our commitment to Caring Luxury. 



As part of our commitment to our people, our manuhiri (guests/visitors), our suppliers and our team we commit to providing our team with one paid day off each year.

This day is their's to complete volunteer work for any cause or charity that they hold dear to their heart - from rattling buckets for Breast Cancer to an environmental program or volunteering at the local SPCA.  

We also involve our team in a number of community events to support health and wellbeing and charitable causes. 

As signatories to the Sustainable Tourism Commitment we are committed to being an employer of choice.

We find ways to work with local charities, arts organisations, education and support local artists, produce suppliers, craftsmen and furniture makers.  

We also support events in Rotorua which bring economic benefits and employment into our region.

Guardianship (kaitiakitanga) of our land and our natural environment is vital to the long term sustainable success of our industry and our own community.  

We take responsibility for the entire life cycle of products and services we use and actively look for ways to minimise, manage and eliminate waste from our supply chain as well as engaging in on-premise programs to educate our guests on what they can do.   Some of the initiatives we undertake include:

Some of our actions developed naturally, for example, we’ve been involved in helping various charitable organisations for numerous years. Other actions are driven by a desire to protect what we hold dear. For example, our ongoing commitment to reducing our impact on the natural environment has triggered management & employees to develop initiatives to ensure we do our part in helping NZ remain 100% PURE.


Applying for sponsorship or asking for a charitable donation? 

We are strongly committed to playing a role in supporting our wider community, through sponsorship of events, individuals or organisations, sporting, educational, and other community initiatives.  All sponsorship requests and requests for charitable donations are managed by Brook Serene Boutique Hotels.  To help you with your application or request please review the following information.



Brook Serene & Company Ltd will consider sponsorship of events (or organisations) that allow Brook Serene to:

  • Communicate our Brand Values
  • Showcase one or all of our properties
  • Create a connection within the community
  • Generate exposure
  • Create future revenue opportunities



We have guidelines in place to determine the suitability of requests for sponsorship or charitable donations.  Brook Serene  will only consider requests that are consistent with our objectives, which are:

A worthy cause that will have a lasting impact on the community
The audience the prize is promoted to is the correct demographic
The package will have a high value associated with it*
We reserve the right to request that a reserve be set at 50% of face value.
Brook Serene (or the specific hotels') name or logo must appear on event banners, posters, approved printed material, displays, websites, direct marketing material, and social media platforms.

*Please note we do not support silent auctions or raffles.



To submit a sponsorship request, please email the following details to [email protected];

  • Which hotel you are requesting support from
  • Contact details, including phone and email
  • A detailed description of your group, charity, organisation, team, event
  • Where and when the event is to take place
  • The level of exposure of the event e.g. number of attendees/viewers
  • Likely demographic and reach of the activity i.e. local, regional or national
  • What rights and benefits are offered to Brook Serene (e.g. opportunity for media advertising, social media, tickets to the event, signage, or other exposure)


We receive many sponsorship and charitable requests and applications and we are only able to support a minority of these requests.  All requests must be in writing.  Requests for support of events within 7-days will not be responded to except in certain exceptional circumstances.  We review these on a regular basis and will advise in writing within 21 days.   Please note we do not offer cash donations or sponsorships.

An evaluation of the sponsorship will be required, detailing the total amount the auction raised, the amount our sponsorship raised along with the name, address, and phone number of the winner or prize recipient of the voucher.  This information must be supplied to Brook Serene Hotel Management within 21 days.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the entire staff at this hotel was - the hospitality was above and beyond - they even waited for me to arrive back from an excursion late to make sure I had dinner served (without even asking) and the food was amazing - and had a table set for me even though it was long after time for them to have been home - I would stay there again in a heartbeat - thanks to every single person who made me feel at home there!!

We had lunch and dinner it was divine, top class service from all personnel, front desk team, cleaner restaurant staff and the maintenance man they all gave service with a smile. Highly recommend this fabulous accommodation the grounds were beautifully maintained and clean.

Came in for dinner with 4 colleagues and were blown away by the overall experience. Fantastic food , very professional and friendly staff, great ambience which all made for a very enjoyable evening.
